I was in the middle of playing tourist in the area and I figured before I started the self guided tour here, I would have a bite to eat. I got the baked potato stuffed with crawfish ettouffe and bread pudding for dessert. The food was very good. Wait staff was very friendly.

We were looking for local cuisine and had The Vermilionville Restaurant recommended to us. My husband ordered the Jambalaya, my daughter ordered the Gumbo, while I ordered the baked potato to have room for bread pudding. All were delicious! I loved the many windows and brightness of the dining room. I also enjoyed the art by a local artist.

I visited Vermillionville and this restaurant while in Lafayette for Festival International. I can't wait to return to this charming restaurant! That's saying a lot because Lafayette is filled with excellent food! I ordered the plate lunch which started with a cup of excellent gumbo. It had a beautiful dark roux and was full of wonderful flavor. That set the standard for the rest of the meal. My lunch plate was filled to the brim with all manner of deliciousness. There was crawfish etouffee over rice, smothered green beans that tasted like they came from my mama's kitchen, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, and a huge biscuit. I was too full to have dessert, although I regret not trying the bread pudding. Next time...My server was very friendly and efficient, and the setting charming. It was an excellent value. I will definitely return!!

OMG! The food was amazing. I grew up in south Louisiana. Reminded me of my childhood and the way my grandmother and mom cooked! It was 4 of us, so we tried everything and everything was good. We had to meet the chef and gave her our compliments. For dessert we had the bread pudding and the strawberry cobbler. Yap, had never heard of a strawberry cobbler. And yes, the crust was perfectly brown and crispy! The strawberry filing was hot, silky, and not to sweet! And reasonable price! Our new go to spot for lunch!

This is an authentic restaurant with delicious home cooked meals. We had the daily special of stuffed turkey wing over rice, red beans, green salad or gumbo, buttermilk biscuit, dessert, and drink- all for 12.95. They are open 11-2 and you do not have to visit Vermillionville village to eat at the restaurant. The service was wonderful. The workers all eat here as well - it’s that good! I would have brought a gallon of that gumbo home if I’d had an ice chest!

We stopped by around lunchtime, and despite how busy it was, the staff were friendly and worked to seat us as quickly as possible. They were serving a buffet during our visit, and the food was excellent. The brisket and chicken were juicy and tender, while the mashed potatoes and vegetable sides were well-seasoned. For dessert, I had the bread pudding, which had wonderful flavor, perfect consistency, and a sugary crust on top. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this place when you're at Vermillionville.

Best Chicken and Sausage Gumbo ever! The rest of the plates we ordered: Crawfish Etouffee, fried chicken and fried shrimp were really good too, specially the fried shrimp. Really cheap for the quality and quantity. Good service.
